Chef Kristy Tuttle

Originally from Watertown, New York, Kristy and her Mom made their way to Texas by the time she was five and therefore has always referred to herself as a born again Texan. Her love for desserts started at a very young age whilst always making sugary treats with her Mom in the kitchen. It wasn’t until 2009 when she was bitten by the cake bug. Kristy was a stay at home mom that stumbled upon a cake how on t.v and thought to herself “hey, I might be able to do that”. She then began hours of research and countless days, weeks and months of practice before she worked up the nerve to delivery her first free cake to the local Home Depot. It was there that her baking career exploded, shortly thereafter she opened Kosmic Custom Cakes where she worked side by side with both her Mom “aka Kosmic Grandma” and her daughter McKenzy. During this time Kristy has had the privilege of creating one of a kind cakes for celebrities such as the late great Lonnie Mack, she is a proud member of Icing Smiles, works with many charitable foundations and extremely proud of the one of a kind creations she designs for her corporate clients such as The Home Depot (where it all started).

Finally in 2015 Kristy dove in and entered in her very first cake competition where she was humbled to take 1st place. During that competition two of the judges told Kristy that they expected to see her at OSSAS. Not knowing what to expect Kristy bravely entered in the Grand Masters Wedding Division at OSSAS where she won the gold, coming in 7th place. Since then she has been hooked on cake shows where she has racked up several 1st and 2nd place awards for her unique Wedding designs and Tiered cakes.

With many design skills in her portfolio Kristy is most known for her tall structures, adding lights and movement to her creations. Hidden scene wedding cakes and most importantly her fondant quilling. In 2016 Kristy was been featured in a multi page fondant quilling tutorial with Cake Masters Magazine, as well as being featured in American Cake Decorating magazine, ACD Slice, Cakes Décor Daily Top 3 & Cakes Décor People’s Choice, several newspapers from Texas to Oklahoma and much much more.

In 2016/17 she has hit the ground running and now teaching and competing from coast to coast, simply sharing her love for the art of fondant with as many people as she can. Kristy plans on always being a small town girl, just having some fun.

Sugar Cookies by Kristy Tuttle

If you're anything like me, my flooding techniques when it comes to royal icing cookies usually look like a kindergartener did them. That is until Mona Lisa Fondant entered my life!
